Late Development - 1st Reminiscence

it is early afternoon on October 26th... it has been 100 days since the last devlog and unfortunately, not much progress has been made in that time... the past two months saw a shift in focus from planning a passably successful visual novel to planning a beautifully successful wedding ceremony and reception... but now that that unrelated, hugely-important, lifelong commitment thing is over with, let's get back to talking about visual novel development... that's what we're all here for, right?

so anyway, pretty much all of the voicework is complete, which is huge... all of the character art is done and animated and most of the soundtrack is complete as well; any further tracks will be simpler ambient songs that require less time to write and produce... there are still dozens of background art assets to pixel, and those take a significant amount of time... lastly, much of the writing hasn't made it past the planning stage for some of the later acts, but writing is one of the quickest steps in the process... it's the coding of the writing that takes a while because each line needs to have a character animation set and usually also a voiceline attached to it...

also, the intro cutscene video is pretty much done, it just needs one more background... the cover image on this post of the campsite is from that intro, I don't know if you can see it in the post itself but it's somewhere... so yeah, expect more progress in the coming months, because it is a productive time of year and there are hopefully no more weddings to plan...

Here's where we're at right now:

  • Act I - 92% written - 83% coded/animated - 100% assets created
  • Act II - 44% written - 13% coded/animated - 70% assets created
  • Act III - 21% written - 0% coded/animated - 40% assets created
  • Act IV - 0% written - 0% coded/animated - 0% assets created
  • Act V - 3% written - 10% coded/animated - 0% assets created
  • Overall - at this point, the game is approximately 54% complete

thanks for all the support...
